What sort of information is available from Community DataWorks?
Community DataWorks provides a simple, rich source of demographic
data for small, local areas - like neighborhoods. For starters, there are neighborhood
profiles -- short, printable summaries on major trends in St. Paul's seventeen
planning districts. We also organize and publish information from other data
sources, such as the US Census.
In addition, we have created a unique, detailed database combining
data from many sources. This data provides the ability to link household characteristics
from different data sources. Each data item can be cross-tabulated with any
other variable in the database, allowing for rich
- Adult residents, by age

- Renter-occupied housing units
- Housing units by type of building (e.g. small/large apartment
building, duplex, etc.)
- Number of licensed drivers
- Number of registered, owned, non-commercial vehicles
- Length of time at current address

Public school student demographics, aggreated to a level at which individual
data cannot be identified, is currently being added to the database. This information
will be available in late 2003.
We organize this information in a variety of ways.

multiple data sources and organized by area (e.g. a neighborhood) or theme
(e.g.
Renters, Older Adults).
- Maps: Maps of interesting information
- Tables: Tables, for viewing or downloading
- Reports and profiles: Printable summary information.
This website offers just a glimpse into the types of information available from
Community DataWorks. For community-based projects, we are looking for pilot projects
involving more advanced analytical capacities. To find out more, contact us.
